The territory of Chianti, with is hilly landscape, incomparable for its beauty, is in the middle of Tuscany. Divided between the province of Florence and Siena, during the Middle Age was object of struggles between these two towns until 1555 when the Medicis family began their egemony on it. It is difficult to understand its bondaries, because only Chianti's mountains separate it from The Superior Valdarno, the other territory is composed of Arbia's hills, river Elsa, Greve and Pesa. Medieval villages and castle, churches, abbeys, farmhouses and villas characterize these hills while vineyards, olive trees and woods make the atmosphere unique. Along Cassia, or the highway Florence-Siena, you can pass for the pilgrims' routes that during the Middle Age reached Rome from the Northern Europe leading to the building of churches, abbeys, villages. The Chiantigiana is, instead, a more rural route which passes for the countryside. Otherwise, what Chianti will offer to the tourists will be an unforgettable lanscape, various in colours and atmosphere. Remember that Chianti is very rich historically and artistically.
